John Schmidt

Senior Pastor

John grew up on a farm in Kansas and is the youngest of six children. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture engineering from Kansas State University, and a Masters of Divinity degree from the Beeson Divinity School of Samford University. He has been married to his lovely wife, Debbie, since 1986. They have three sons, three beautiful daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren who have stolen their hearts. John left an engineering career to answer a call to ministry shortly before he and Debbie were married. He served as an area director for Young Life in Houston, and as a teaching pastor for Frazer Memorial Church in Montgomery before becoming the founding pastor of Centerpoint. John is passionate about teaching God’s Word and applying God’s truth to our everyday lives. He is also passionate about empowering people to do ministry and he loves finding new and creative ways to share the Good News of Jesus. John enjoys spending time with his family, watching college basketball, hiking, biking and snow skiing whenever he gets the chance.
