The Centered Life
At Centerpoint, we believe "The Centered Life" is a life centered on The Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
The Great Commandment: “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”- Matthew 22:37-40, NLT
The Great Commission: “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20, NLT
These passages command us to love God more and love people more. We often refer to three simple pathways to help us do this. Each of these pathways contains four simple steps as listed below.
“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 (NLT)
- We must SURRENDER.
We must LISTEN.
- We must PRAY.
- We must OBEY.
Ask Yourself: What's God saying to me?
Loving People More
“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35 (NLT)
- We must think of OTHERS FIRST.
- We must BE KIND to each other.
- We must SERVE each other.
- We must INVEST in each other.
Ask Yourself: Who am I showing kindness to?
Loving More People
“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” Luke 19:10 (NLT)
- We must become AWARE.
- We must COMMIT TO PRAYER.
- We must SHOW WE CARE.
- We must be READY TO SHARE.
Ask Yourself: Who am I talking to about Jesus?
